hello, cupcake switches to good natured plant-based packaging, a perfect fit for emerging eco-policies

July 11, 2018 — (Vancouver, BC) good natured Products Inc. (“good natured®”) (TSX-V: GDNP), is pleased to announce that Tacoma-based cupcake shop, hello, cupcake has made the switch away from petroleum-based PET to good natured®‘s plant-based materials.

For Allix Zemcik, owner of hello, cupcake, taking the proactive step to switch to good natured® plant-based packaging was about more than reducing petroleum based plastic pollution. Conscious of the additives commonly found in everyday food packaging, the switch allows Allix to reassure her customers that hello, cupcake packaging contains no BPAs, phthalates and other chemicals of concern: “The combination of design that enhances product visualization as well as the sustainable properties of good natured®’s food packaging made the decision to switch away from petroleum packaging a no brainer.”

Paul Antoniadis, CEO of good natured® added: “We’re very excited to be working with hello, cupcake, one of many small businesses that shares our commitment to better everyday packaging made from plants, not petroleum. With cities across North America introducing bans on single-use, non-biodegradable plastics, we have more opportunity to show new customers how the switch to plant-based materials is good for business and the planet.”

Local legislation at a city and state level is being introduced at an ever-increasing speed to curb the environmental effects of plastic pollution. Consistently voted as one of the most environmentally-conscious cities in the United States, Seattle has banned non-biodegradable plastic straws and utensils in bars and restaurants as of July 1st 2018. This new policy reflects consumer demand for more renewable materials and increases the drive for businesses to reduce their reliance on petroleum packaging and containers.
