good natured and toronto’s soul chocolate are heating things up, just in time for the holidays
December 11, 2017 — (Vancouver, BC) good natured Products Inc. (the “Company” or “good naturedTM”) (TSX-V: GDNP), today announced that its ground-breaking heat resistant plant-based packaging was deployed successfully this holiday season in Toronto’s popular Soul Chocolate advent calendars.
Made from 80% plant-based materials, good naturedTM’s newest packaging will not deform in temperatures up to 90ºC. This made it ideal for Soul Chocolate’s co-owners Katie and Kyle, who are firmly committed to ethically sourcing and producing their “bean to bar” chocolates.
With no BPAs, phthalates or phytoestrogen, good naturedTM packaging will not leach potentially harmful chemicals into the chocolate during hot filling, which can be a concern with some traditional materials like polystyrene.
“It’s been a real pleasure to collaborate with Soul Chocolate to design and develop this innovative plant-based packaging that’s new to the market,” said Paul Antoniadis, CEO of good naturedTM.“There’s nothing our team embraces more than the challenge of creating something truly revolutionary alongside our customers like Soul Chocolate, who share our commitment to looking at all aspects of design, production and supply chain to produce products that are both well-designed and mindful of the environment.”
“It’s more than just the love of chocolate, it’s the love for this world and the people who are on it,” said Katie, co-owner operator of Soul Chocolate. “Being able to share something so complex and beautiful like chocolate, while doing it in an ethical and sustainable manner is a real joy,” said co-owner, Kyle. Katie continued, “good naturedTM provides businesses like ours with a solution that lets us extend our commitment to producing the very best products for our customers and are better for the world and the people on it.”
Soul Chocolate’s small batch single origin Dominican 70% was poured directly into good naturedTM plant-based packaging inserts and then wrapped in an artful box to create this year’s advent calendar. Produced in limited quantities, Soul Chocolate’s calendars are available in the Greater Toronto area and quickly sold out this holiday season. The Soul Chocolate location at 583 Gerrard St. E., Toronto offers fantastic coffee and a range of chocolate bars and products. Their chocolate bars can also be bought online at www.soulroasters.com and at the following Toronto locations: Pilot Coffee, Fahrenheit, Broadview Hotel, Arvo Café and Pusateri’s Fine Foods.

About Soul Chocolate
Katie and Kyle, owners and operators, are grass-root explorers, and they just happen to love cacao. Years ago, while touring New Zealand they stumbled upon a tiny cafe in Wellington, which opened up their minds to the complexity of specialty chocolate. After deciding to build their own business, Katie and Kyle launched Soul Chocolate in Toronto, Ontario. Their chocolate highlights the origin of the cacao itself (where the farmers worked so hard to produce an amazing product) alongside the unique subtleties added from both roasting and refining. Each chocolate is truly unique. They have also had the privilege of learning about cacao at origin, understanding not only how it is grown but who grows it. Their goal is to create 100% Direct Trade relationships for all of their cacao, offering far higher prices for the farmers incredibly hard work.
